Happy birthday to me!
I'm one quarter of a century old now.
That is all.
Happy birthday to me!
I'm one quarter of a century old now.
That is all.
I do still exist.
I swear it.
Anyway... I live in Oregon now with my gal. Life is good but weird. I worked a few weeks at the local BMW dealership but my boss (not the owner- he seems cool) is kinda worthless. So I left that area and moved on to better things. Job hunting namely. I've been re-reading the dune series (two books left including the Brian/Kevin prequel) and I have a birthday coming up. That's the world as of now. We've made some local friends and we're getting into better shape. I run a mile almost every day now (running is a word used very loosely. I jog. and walk) and we joined a semi-competitive Ultimate Frisbee league. Neither of us is very good, but we do have a lot of fun and it's helping me not get fat. WOOT!
Oh yeah- and Carley is HAWT!
So we've been here almost a week.... And I'm finally writing. Get over it.
Anyway... the new apartment is pretty cool. Not fantastic/amazing or anything but I like it a lot. The location is pretty spectacular. Off our back deck is a golf course and we're within a long walk/short bike ride of three grocery stores, a library, a bank, several good bike trails, three or four ice cream parlors, and scads of other stuff. In addition, Eugene is one of the most bike-friendly towns I've ever seen. Almost every street has a bike lane and the busses have bike racks on the front. We'll be able to do almost anything we want without getting into our cars. yipee! I'm gonna start my job hunt as soon as I get back from the shindig in IL. Papa is getting married so we're heading in for that. Still trying to get to IL in two more weeks for Mom's wedding but it's looking more and more like that simply won't be possible unless I win the lotto or something. And since I don't play the lotto... yeah.
On another note, Geoff and Carley got google-stalked by the Spanish Teacher/Soccer coach at Carley's school. Read about it there.
Life is pretty good. Merry and Terell made the move-in as pleasant as one can be and had a good time with us. Paul and Britta made the move-out as quick and painless (and humorous) as could be hoped for. Thank you to all four of you. you rock my socks off. To everybody in Springs who didn't come help- you're a buncha dirty hippies. Go wash my laundry.
We move on Saturday 7/29/2006... If you are in the Denver/Springs/Pueblo area and want to help us move... DO IT! There will be pizza and assorted libations on hand for anybody kind (crazy) enough to help us lug our crap to the truck. We'd love to be able to say our goodbyes before then... but if there isn't time- COME THEN! We'll be starting work around 10am on Saturday and just work til we're done. Shelly, Hilly, Toni, Lauren, Jared, Chris, Cassie, and ANYBODY whom I've forgotten... Come say hi and goodbye. Then carry something down stairs.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Seriously... we'd love to see you even if you can't help move. We'd just love even more to see you carrying a box.
To the.. west side? West Coast is the Best Coast, right Jon?
Anyway- Carley got a job. A real job. Like a career. So we're moving. On July 25th, we depart these dry and congested streets in the shadow of the Rockies. We leave our leaking, overpriced apartment behind and forsake our desk jobs for wetter, smarter climes. Eugene, Oregon- here we come! I approach this with some trepidation as I will be job hunting AGAIN and I may be done with cheerleading, though I hope not. I'm done with MasterDrive until I can afford to start one out there. We're leaving a lot behind but we're leaving it for some exceptionally good opportunities. The cop thing is on hold for a little bit but I haven't cancelled it yet. I may not. We'll see how timing and such oppotunities pan out.
I love the mountains, but I hate the cities here. Maybe we'll find a place I can whine about a little less. I'm not betting on it. At worst, I'll have time to write again while Carley is my sugar mama.
