Abortion and your mom

Now- obviously there was some point where your mother either decided against abortion or didn't have the option. I've been torn on this subject for a long time. I feel that a woman has a right to make the important decisions regarding her body without the law interfering. By the same token, I believe a woman has a responsibility to make these decisions. At times, the decision needs to be "keep my pants on." Or at least "I'll just blow him so I don't get pregnant." Those are choices that a woman has a right to make as well. I have not ever, nor can I now condone abortion being used as an easy way out. I can't see "I don't wanna be pregnant right now- it's just not a good time for me to have a kid." being a justification for an abortion. However, there are times when I have no problem with it and would even encourage it. Rape, incest, exceptionally poor maternal or fetal health... Those kinds of things. And at some point, the crack whore needs to stop popping out kids too.

South Dakota is getting ready to take away a woman's right to choose an abortion. While I feel that there should be limits on how abortions are performed and how easy they are to get, I don't think that they should be limited solely to cases where the mother's life is in jeopardy. There are other reasons that I think are perfectly moral and acceptable. I do not think that the state has any right to step into private decisions to such an extent. If we allow and encourage that kind of encroachment on personal moral decisions, we should be ready to accept such state-run morality in other realms. Before long (here comes the slippery slope, kids) we'll either:
A: be required by law to purchase american-made cars out of patriotic responsibility. We can't let those stinking foreigners get all our money! or...

B: be required by law NOT to purchase them because of their shitty gas-milage and their poor feduciary sensiblity. Americans are in enough debt already- we can't buy these things and encourage MORE debt- 'sides- half of them are made in Mexico.
Blah. What do you think? Is this a case of the state overstepping its bounds?
